University of Oslo Natural History Museum, Norway
50’ Plesiosaur

Dr. Jørn Hurum from the University of Oslo Natural History Museum in Norway recently discovered the largest fossil of a Plesiosaur species ever discovered. Dubbed the “The Monster” or “The T-Rex of the Ocean,” the 150 million-year old specimen was found in 2006 on Spitsbergen, in the Arctic island chain of Svalbard.

The University of Oslo asked Big Events to create a life-like, 50 foot long inflatable replica of “The Monster” to accompany the Plesiosaur fossil on display in their museum.  With the direction of Dr. Jørn Hurum and his colleagues, Big Events successfully built an incredible inflatable plesiosaur, complete with a life-like open mouth and realistic teeth.
